It appeared on December 3, 2002 in a precursor to gothtober.com, an Advent calendar from the same curator, Julianna (JP) Parr. View the animation below by itself (Flash player required). I'm not aware of an archive of the original calendar, so I can't tell you where to see the pieces created by other artists for the calendar.
